KINDERGARTEN, 1968, AGE 6
Haircut technology was still in its infancy.

FIRST GRADE, 1969, AGE 7
This was as close as I'd come to a smile in a grade-school portrait.

SECOND GRADE, 1970, AGE 8
Quite the minimalist esthetic, with the doggy on my shirt cropped out.

THIRD GRADE, 1971, AGE 9
The Lee Harvey Oswald look was still "in."

FOURTH GRADE, 1972, AGE 10
No, there wasn't a Junior ROTC program. Why do you ask?

FIFTH GRADE, 1973, AGE 11
It took me long enough, but not so bad, eh? Ladies? Ladies?

SIXTH GRADE, 1974, AGE 12
Another good one. I really did look OK once. Alas, it wasn't to last.

SEVENTH GRADE, 1975, AGE 13
Bozo in a leisure suit. The '70s had hit their stride.

EIGHTH GRADE, 1976, AGE 14
The glasses and the 'fro make their debut. And the zits.

NINTH GRADE, 1977, AGE 15
A little better. Don't forget: The ears had to be covered.
